Milano Campus
La Scuola’s Milano campus is designed to serve as the international school of the future. Here, the environment helps focus learning. Remodeled — like all La Scuola campuses — under the direction of world-renowned architect Michele Zini of ZPZ Partners, a specialist in Reggio Emilia Approach design, this campus turns every space into a contributor to learning.
An Education-First Environment
La Scuola International School, Milano is located in a quiet, residential section of northwest Milano, near the Politecnico di Milano Bovisa campus and a wave of urban renewal. This newly renovated campus is joyously awash in color and light.
Classrooms include playful, light-filled early years spaces and ateliers — dedicated laboratories of exploration and learning — including a maker atelier, engaging students in robotics and 3D printing. The campus includes a library, an auditorium for performances and gatherings, dining space, a state-of-the-art kitchen for fresh-prepared meals.
At the center of campus, an internal courtyard brings sunlight, greenery, and open air into each school day. A sculptural play structure, garden beds, and shaded seating engage students outside between classes. Surrounding the school building, a full-size soccer pitch, a basketball court, gym, and two garden areas support our robust athletics program.
Welcome from Mauro Spicci, Founding Principal, La Scuola International School, Milano
Dear La Scuola families,
I was born at school. That’s not a metaphor: my mother, a primary school teacher, used to bring me into her classroom before I was even old enough to attend one myself.
My earliest memories carry the smell of chalk, the sound of desks being rearranged, the light of an empty classroom on a Saturday morning. Long before I knew what school was, I had already breathed it in.
Growing up, I understood what kept me tied to those hallways: not the rules, not the grades, but three simple and radical things. The chance to find expression — to say who I was through a word, a drawing, an idea. The passion of discovery — that exact moment when something you didn’t understand suddenly belongs to you. And the joy of being together — because I never learned anything truly important alone. I believe these are the same three desires you bring to school every day with your children. Three desires that, together, build the future of every child and of the community that grows alongside them, day after day.
Today, I return, once again, to where it all began. I return to school. I return to La Scuola. And I return there together with you — to build a school capable of protecting the wonder every child is born with.
My hope is that every child who joins La Scuola International School, Milano will feel seen, heard, and encouraged to become the fullest version of themselves. Because a truly great school does not strive to make children alike; it helps each of them discover their own “hundred languages”.
In the end, if there is one thing my children and the hundreds of children and young people I have had the privilege of accompanying have taught me, it is this: the greatest task of education is not to fill a mind, but to protect its wonder.
Wishing you a wonderful start to the new school year!

“If we want to have critical thinkers that go through life inquiring and being curious, they need to have love and safety. That's one of the key things that La Scuola has given our children. I cannot imagine them anywhere else.”
